We have a thriving and enthusiastic junior section.
The club provides coaching for complete beginners providing you are in years 7, 8 or 9. A team of volunteer coaches will progress you through to racing in national competitions.
Starter and taster sessions for Year 7, 8 and 9 are on Friday 4:30 - 6:15 . These sessions are designed for complete beginners and recreational rowers.
Sixth formers (mainly St Mary Redcliffe Sixth Form college) can come down at 3pm and go out in an eight or a four
and progress to doubles and singles
As you progress, the more experienced juniors, who can commit to racing at weekends, can come down for race training sessions on Wednesday and Thursdays 4:45 - 6:30 and on Sundays - 12pm to 3pm .
In the winter the Friday late afternoon sessions stop in November and commence again in February/March, but we substitute water training for circuit training on a Wednesday night and make use of the QEH school gym.
Swim and capsize sessions are held at intervals throughout the year at St Mary Redcliffe school pool or Clifton College pool.
Get in touch with us at and we can
arrange taster sessions, coaching classes or regular rowing outings for individuals or groups at the above times.
Training sessions this week Monday 14th May - Water session - 4:45 for a 5:00 start. This is an uncoached session and a good chance to practice what the coach has said you need to work on. All welcome.
Thursday 15th May - water session as normal - coached by Greg.
Sunday - 20th May - water session at 12 CANCELLED. For those taking part in the Olympic torch event on Tuesday 22nd - PLEASE come to a practice session at 3pm.
Coxing Without people willing to Cox, a lot people will not be able to row. Remember that on the water the cox is the boss - show them
respect and follow their instructions. Thanks to all those who volunteer to Cox!
HOT OFF THE PRESS

The ,Worcester web site will have details of the draw and also rules. These can also be viewed here - please have a look
Boatloading will be on Friday 5pm at the boathouse - please come along if you are racing - the more people around the quicker the job will be finished!
Junior subs A reminder to all that the subs have increased from 1st May. Thank you to all those who have returned your forms. If you have not arranged for this increase yet - please do so in time for the
1st May - this can be done via on-line banking rather than the form. We will be checking in Mid May and chasing those whose fees have not increased.
The form if needed can be found here
REMINDER REMINDER REMINDER REMINDER REMINDER REMINDER -YET AGAIN A plea from Andy:-
Junior club members will not row in any Regattas unless:
1. They have a valid British Rowing association membership card and this is given to Andy
2. Their account is up to date
3. We have up to date contact records
4. A new Standing order form has been returned
5. They have marked up the availability form on the notice board in the club house
Sorry this sounds a bit draconian but of the circa 35 small availability slips distributed a month ago only 50% were returned and of the newsletters distributed 2 weeks ago (and on the Web site) only 2 have so far have been returned.
Account balances - Please Please check your club account balances!!! This is even more important following the decision to increase the Junior subs (see newsletter). There are a number of Junior account balances in the red!
This can happen due to entries at regattas (seat and trailer fees) or because of unpaid or wrongly paid membership fees. Please check and make a one-off payment if necessary! Thanks!
British Rowing Membership Please check that your membership is up to date! We have a new process for entries to Regattas and need your membership number in order to make the entry.
It would be a shame to miss an event because you have not checked your membership details!!!
