Message from the Equipment Fairy

Added 16/03/2010 by Peter Vallance

Apparently his telepathic sense is failing and he is finding it more difficult to detect what is wrong with the kit. Indeed we may actually have to tell him!!

He does ask us to remind people to report anything that is damaged and they cannot fix themselves, or if spares/repairs are needed (to Pete, Malcolm, KatyL, LucyI, or any squad captain). He does appreciate that it is open to debate what is just 'not as shiny as it could be' and what is knackered. eg An Erg that is broken in half should be reported, but a lose shoe could be fixed by the crew before or after the outing. Crackling microphones could be reported & fixed before they get to the Tideway start line if the are reported and put aside.

A general ask is for everyone from ALL ends of the club to look after the kit. Please can you ensure cox boxes and microphones are put away on the correct shelf in the cupboard and not dumped in the bottom of the cupboard. Also ensure the cox-box plugs are hooked out of the way in boats on racks to stop them getting damaged, wet, or caught on other boats when dragging them off the rack.

We all know how irritating it is to have to fix something that no-one has reported, or hunt for kit that has not been put away properly. We could be rowing new boats if we did not have to spend huge amounts on repairs...
