Hi Rowers!
2012 is upon us, where did last year go? It has absolutely flown by! We hope everyone is looking forwards to the year ahead, a chance to maybe better that personal best or really get stuck into some races showing the other clubs how its done.
To kick start the year, your social team have scheduled a few socials taking place over the next couple of months so be sure to put these in your diaries. What better way to have fun and promote a bit of inter squad mingling. We look forwards to seeing you at the first of 3 initial meets taking place on Friday 3rd February 8pm @ The Mall in Clifton.

Christmas Party

Hey Everyone!
It's that time of year again for the CBRC Xmas Party!!
As I am sure some of you are already aware, the christmas party will be on SATURDAY 17TH DECEMBER at the ROO BAR next to Clifton Down railway station

We will kick off at 7:30pm and go on until 1am.
The theme for this years party is COWBOYS AND ALIENS so you all have two weeks to come up with some amazing fancy dress!
Throughout the evening we will be serenaded by a mixture of tunes that the social team will be putting together but rest assured there will be some xmas classics in there.
You will be able to buy your ticket through the club website which will retail at £12 per person. Your ticket entitles you to a free glass of cocktail on arrival and a buffet will be provided to cater for both the meaties and the veggies amongst us!

I am sure that there will be drinking games and a few inter squad boat races so we are all very excited about the evening!
I hope as many people as possible can attend and help bring in the festive period CBRC style!

Dates of upcoming socials

Time to get your diaries out - we have some very important dates for your social calendars!
Friday 28th October - The first social event of the season! This will be a pub meet (with a twist!) and a fab opportunity for meeting new faces and inter-squad mingling :-)
Saturday 19th November - A social bike ride to Bath and back, including tea stops, lunch and beer stops.
Saturday 17th December - The Christmas Do! We will be going to a different venue this year. Cheap booze, dodgy dancing and crazy dress code all to be expected!

Annual Dinner - Tickets Now on Sale!

The CoBRC Annual Dinner will be taking place on Friday 13th May at Clifton Pavillion, located within the grounds of Clifton Zoo.

Tickets will be £39.50pp if purchased by Sunday 1st May, going up to £42pp afterwards. The ticket price includes an hour of time to wander around the zoo, pre-dinner drinks on the courtyard terrace, a 3 course meal with coffee and mints, wine on the table and DJ!
So get speaking to your partner ('mate'!) to prepare for how many tickets you are going to buy, start thinking about the animal themed accessories you are going to wear with your black tie, prepare yourselves for the drinking game debauchery, disco dancing and 'squad bonding raffle' and get pondering over who you are going to vote for to receive the following, highly prestigious awards:

The social team have been very busy recently planning the upcoming socials so put these dates in your diaries and look out for more information coming soon!
Saturday 9th April
"After Eights" social with frisbee and a picnic on the Downs to celebrate the coming of the summer! Posters have been put up around the clubhouse so look out for these. Wet weather plan will be the pub.
Friday 13th May
Annual Dinner - black tie dinner, drinks, awards and a chance to show off those dancing skills at the ceilidh!
Saturday 16th July
Official Clubhouse Opening - details to be arranged but plan for food and drinks in the sunshine and possibly some special guest rowers on the docks and some impromptu competition!
August (exact date tbc)

Think ahead for this one! We've picked a date during Olympic rowing season for a potential CBRC picnic / supporting day so that everyone who wants to go can book a ticket for that day. You have to book your preferences by April so we encourage people who are interested to book well ahead with their social calendars for this one!
